Kontrol S5
INPUTS & RECORDING
MICROPHONE & AUX INPUTS
The Traktor Kontrol S5 offers a Microphone and an Auxiliary input (connections at the rear panel).
Both Inputs will be directly routed to the Master Output of the S5 when the AUX [15] button is enabled from the top panel.
While AUX button is held down, use the Left-side LOOP Encoder to adjust the level of the Microphone Input and the Right-side LOOP Encoder to adjust the level of the auxiliary input. Note that when this hardware feature is enabled, the signal of these inputs will not be recorded along with your mix in VirtualDJ.
Alternatively, any (or both) of these inputs can be added to VirtualDJ Audio setup and routed to a VirtualDJ Deck as Microphone and Live Input, providing Volume, EQ, Effects etc. controls but at the same time sacrificing one or two VirtualDJ Decks.
In this case, the AUX button [15] at the top panel needs to be turned off.

Open VirtualDJ Audio Setup and click on the MICROPHONE and LINE INPUT buttons at the top-right of this window for VirtualDJ to add 2 extra lines for these inputs.
Make sure the linein 1 is assigned to the S5 audio interface and the Line Left & Right Channels as shown in the image above.
Make sure the mic is assigned to the S5 audio interface and the Mic Left & Right Channels as shown in the image above.
After that, you can ..
- Enable Line Input to any Deck (or use SHIFT+PFL [3] buttons. See Line Inputs in VirtualDJ Manual
- Control Microphone input. See Microphone Input in VirtualDJ Manual
Note: By disabling the hardware Mic/Aux routing (AUX button turned off) and adding these inputs in VirtualDJ Audio setup, your mix will be recorded along with the signal of these inputs.
Recording & Broadcasting
No need to make any adjustments for VirtualDJ to record your mix. Note that Microphone and Live Inputs will be recorded, only if those are included in VirtualDJ Audio setup and routed to a VirtualDJ Deck as above.
See VirtualDJ Manual for Recording .
