im thinking about getting a controller with 4-channel mixer so i can use stems & eqs at the same time as well as switching to rekordbox, but i'm not sure if this setup is specific to vdj only? i just found out about this (image) and was pretty stoked, but i cant find anything aside from "how to set your eq knobs to be stems in rekordbox" tutorials. is this a thing you can do on other dj software?

Stems and EQs at the same time, no, it's a unique feature of VirtualDJ.
On Rekordbox and Serato you can toggle the EQ knobs between eq and stems control on selected hardware but you cannot have both at the same time (such as when you set eq (or stems) to the outer decks on VirtualDJ whan using a 4 deck controller.
Also remember: VirtualDJ supports toggling EQ knobs between eq and stems on almost all controllers.
Other software does this only on a very limited selection of controllers. Therefore plan your next controller purchase very carefully.
