Ok so I have a few tracks that I want to edit.
I have the lyrics but every time I copy them into the editor they just automatically start from the very beginning which is NOT where I want them.
How do I edit these??

You should edit directly in the editor and not just "paste" the lyrics from another source.
Then you click on a word to "select" it and use the waveform to drag it around/change it's duration e.t.c.
Lyrics editor is meant to be used to edit/ adjust the AI errors.
Not as a full means of creating lyrics from scratch.

So what do you do if a search brings back nothing??
I have a Cardi B track that VDJ absolutely refuses to find anything for. Yet with a different of the same track it finds it!!

Report which song it is so that the team can look at it and see why it doesn't return anything at all..

Hello PhantoDeejay.
Hello and thank you to the entire Avir team for finally releasing this request I made 6 years ago. The idea is good, but I really think that instead of having to correct and re-edit word for word... a simple copy/paste would be easier. And technically, today's AI is capable of doing it. Because correcting the timing of a track via VDJ Edition is really too long and complicated to do... See you in a few months... I'm sure you'll find a solution and also provide a solution for the misalignment of the written lyrics with the sound. It's as if the misalignment is in the wrong direction... The sound comes first, then the text plays as if it's being read. Another problem encountered is the analysis time, which blocks any other playback action on a deck while the lyrics are being analyzed. And also, after the first analysis, the lyrics appear. I make corrections and then proofread. No lyrics are displayed anymore... And they refuse to display no matter what I do, restarting VDJ, restarting the PC. Nothing works. And now this track is definitely unusable for karaoke. Thanks in advance for any updates and fixes.

Just testing it here with NWA - F*** Tha Police and it's working well but misses the cuss words when they have speech marks (quotation marks) next to them. It's not muting all the scratched f words either.
Also, any chance of being able to censor the audio without needing the lyrics on screen?

Hello, I don't know what my colleagues or the VDJ development team think, but here are a few comments regarding the update I installed today, December 16, 2025, which seems to handle synchronization a bit better.
First of all, thank you for adding a startup banner, as requested by a VDJ member. It's great to see this option already here; it seems to offer better synchronization and faster loading.
Be careful that it doesn't unnecessarily create work by automatically and systematically displaying lyrics as soon as a deck is loaded.
Because this is visible on the public screen and takes up resources unnecessarily.
I could be wrong, but after the update, I had to redo the karaoke creation process, and I had lyrics that weren't displayed despite the karaoke effect being activated. This happened 6 times out of 7 tests.
1. In karaoke editing, you can't see the progress and tracking of the lyrics during playback.
2. You also can't see the video synchronization (karaoke lyrics scrolling while you see the singer's mouth syncing in the video).
3. You can't pause to replay only the corrected or rejected word.
Perhaps we could have all of this by simply right-clicking on the playback deck or on the top bar in VDJ to correct the lyrics.
The entire creation process would then be handled normally.
Because not seeing the scrolling or the video doesn't seem as sophisticated as it could be.
Thank you.

I agree with the earlier comments from TSI. It's inconvenient to manually correct individual lyircs when the AI gets it wrong (which it does a lot).
For example I've been testing it with tracks that I know it will struggle with. Some it "extracts" and provides the editor, but the editor is blank. There's nothing there to edit, so what other option do I have but to paste the lyrics in?
Others it gets the lyrics so wrong that it's quicker by far to start over. I tried removing the lyrics and pasting in the correct ones, but as TSI says, they're not aligned on the timeline.
Logically I would expect once the AI has assessed the track, any pasted in lyrics should be aligned correctly, as presumably the AI should be aware of where the vocals are, by means of "listening" to the stems.
Either we need a better, more practical way of editing the lyrics, or the AI should attempt to find the correct lyrics online before resorting to the "listening" method.

I had an issue yesterday where the lyric was censored from the screen output but not the actual song.
It also gave me a warning about needing stems but the track has stems preanalyzed months ago.
The whole feature still seems to need a fair bit of work as my testing has showed quite a lot of inconsistency so far.

It has to always "listen" to know where lyrics have to be placed but yes, it does seem like consulting an online lyrics database and using its results, in preference (if available), is naturally a better way to improve correctness, especially in "broken" forms of common languages, like Patios.

It’s done a fairly good job for me but I think I’m all my findings so far, anything main stream is spot on. I start having problems when I get into remixes and obscure tracks. Other than that it’s worked for a lot of tracks that I’ve ran through it.
The editing does need work tho 👍🏾

I forgot to mention the re-analyse option...
If it's had a crack at the lyrics but got them wrong, and the correct lyrics have been pasted in as a replacement, IMO it would be preferable for re-analysis to simply align those correct lyrics, rather than erase them and reload the bad ones - or add another button for alignment.
Maybe a Teach option, where we can paste in the correct lyrics so the AI can learn the errors?

I tried just a copy and paste for that case - that isn't good enough...you have to edit the occurence bubbles too to ensure they match up to the song (unfortunately).
It is that case, especially for karaoke, that needs to be improved.
I guess with all this said, it's clear that useability and quality of the solution is important...especially where there are competitors that look to steal the idea and execute it better than you (and try to take the glory).
