Not sure about this. On board stems still 1x, LAN port removed however SS integrated. Jog wheel displays downgraded and FX oled displays removed. Multifunctional pads added, FX paddles added. Can't say I'm in love with the look either (those white accents are bizarre) but the UK price seems reasonable considering.

No Serato support at day one either which seems a mistake and it's also worth noting that VDJ is still not supported by the RS1 since it's launch at the end of January. Who knows the reason but it isn't ideal and lets In Music down in my opinion.

I don't like idea the removed the LAN now only wireless ugh .

You can use a USB-LAN dongle.

And still waiting for LC6000 support!! That alone is why I wouldn't update if given the chance.

This is not the upgrade I was hoping for. All the processing power wasted on all those FXs!! Yeah it's fun and all but who really uses all that stuff?? Im not a guy who likes layers and this just has waaaaaaaaay to many for me.

The FXs layout on the Prime 4/4+ was and is my biggest gripe about the unit and then they went and did this 🤦🏾‍♂️ I wish it was laid out like the SC Live 4 has them.

I really hope an updated 6000 comes out. Hell if they just some how the quick link thing for playlist on the Prime 4, 5000 and 6000 Ill never need to upgrade!! Im sure it could be done as there's plenty of screen space.

I just don't understand how brand new products can have parts not supported like the LC6000 and omnisource.

Many people use LC6000 and other DJ software with their current Prime 4 so it's not a seamless upgrade at all. As usual people will order at day one then return as it doesn't do what they thought it would.

Rane System One support for VDJ and Djay Pro on the official Denon page has said "soon" since February, which is truly embarrassing.

If it's not ready then don't release it. The mind truly boggles.

The no VDJ support doesn't bother me as Id just use something else but yeah I hear what your saying Keith. It sucks! Im not gonna say were gong backwards again but it sure feels like it at times.

Regarding the LC6000 support, Reese (on the EngineDJ forum) has stated that there were issues during testing, so it's not functional at the moment. Obviously then it was planned. It wasn't deliberately removed.

TBH I would have thought that as a percentage of users, people wanting to connect LC6000s would be in the minority, not the majority.

As for using it with a laptop - it's a standalone unit. Buy it because it's a standalone unit. Mojaxx mentioned the System One at the start of his G2 review, saying how he's using it standalone and he loves it. He was the one who made the video on Djay Pro support at NAMM in January, yet using his System One perfectly happily without that support.

It's the usual thing - no matter how good a product is, people will always find something to moan about - even if it's just the colour of the panels. 🤣

I'm seeing plenty of people who've either got a G2 already or they're planning on buying one (because of what it does now, rather than what it might do in the future).

I find it interesting how much focus is given to visual feedback when it comes to dj ing nowadays.....

If anything a decent midi based controller is the way forward if you are a VDJ dj.

That way you can maximise your device to take full advantage of the software.

In that regards the MX2 is in my opinion the best recent option for VDJ, but i am not into the standalone stuff anyways....

That Prime 4 G2 seems a great device, Marketing sells...lol

Mojaxx plays pre-planned sets for corporate gigs. Regarding his beloved System One, the bugs I picked up that were never fixed were all because I was using the controller for busy functions open format, constantly changing playlists, searching, using the prep list, swapping to Tidal and back. This won't happen to him with one playlist and a set list of tracks from a USB stick.

In Aberdeen where I live I know five people with the Prime 4 or +. They ALL use it with VDJ and have the standalone as a backup. There are also two nightclubs that do exactly the same. I personally believe Denon think there is far more demand for standalone than there actually is but hey.

I'm still working between the MC8000 which is ten years old now and the FLX10. Both are superb with VDJ and if you're mainly using software there's no need for the Prime 4.

Does he? Where are you getting this "fact" from?

He's an open format DJ playing all types of events, including ones open to the general public. One look at his Instagram makes that obvious.

Regardless of the event type, it doesn't change the fact that he's using it standalone, as intended for their main functionality, and therefore immediate software support is not a necessity.

Agree with you on that.

Either way, This new unit doesn't excite and doesn't match my workflow.

Cheers to those who upgrade..

Awesomeness thank you for the information

I keep reading about "standalone" units. Why shouldn't you be able to use VDJ just because a device has a display? I need a unit that can do both. The G2 puts Denon in a strong position. I can finally connect a musician directly; there are more EQ bands (albeit only on the output), and there are more buttons than on the AT—which, with its "clean" setup, is never going to win over DJs. So, it's a step in the right direction, even if it still isn't a proper digital mixer.

No vdj no buying. Standalones only look cool to those who never DJ'd or still use the hercules starlight.

Standalone does work OK ish but the hassle of getting Engine to do things properly is so much worse than just using VDJ. It's fine for EDM gigs (except for the grid being a beat off on loads of tracks) where you have a small playlist but when you have a large collection and do open format gigs it's definitely restricted compared to DJ software.

I all fairness if you're not interested in the standalone side their are far cheaper and less bulky alternatives.

That's very non-specific. What "things" does it need to "do" that are a hassle?

I've had a Prime 4 for six years now and am most certainly an open format DJ (have been for decades) yet I have not encountered any "hassle doing things" when using it.

I don't just do EDM gigs (or corporate gigs) and I don't just work off small playlists - or playlists in general.

It's way better and far more capable than other standalone gear I've used over the years.

I have not issues with any of the Dennon Prime 4 + no hassels at all. easy set up)( I just bought the Prime Gen 2 should be here tommrow 9-4-26) looking forward to the faster hard drive and upgraded sound card, and much more to come

You do know there's no Windows driver or VDJ software support for it yet?

Just thought I'd mention it since you're on the VDJ forum and presumably want to use it with this software.

Interesting... I've seen a few videos mentioning that Serato, Algoriddim, djay, and Virtual DJ will be available via Omni Source. Just like the long-awaited compatibility with the Rane System One.

At the moment I'm still using the Prime 4+ but the recently purchased Rane System One is ready for take over.. really curious if this Gen2 Prime 4+ will speed up the procedure in finally fixing the Midi 2.0 problems at Inmusic.
