Topic: Tracks speeding up / audio crackles
Lately been having weird VDJ issues. From time to time, a track speeds up temporarily, then goes back to normal. Or, I'll hear some audible crackling intermittently. I'm streaming on twitch using obs, but I've recently trimmed back a lot of memory heavy sources in OBS to ensure it's operating at a reasonable level. In some cases too, adjusting the physical pitch fader on my controller doesn't change the pitch, but it can be done through VDJ. Any thoughts? Thank you in advance.

You should provide more information so we can be more specific and give you a better answer, such as your hardware, operating system, and controller. First of all, we should check that you're not having problems with Windows updates, as has been reported in the forum. Regarding the crackling noises, assuming you're using ASIO drivers, the solution is usually to increase the number of samples in the Latency tab and disable Ultra Latency if it's enabled. For unstable playback, I would suspect system interrupts. I use Windows 10 simply because it works better for me than Windows 11, and it's not due to a lack of resources; I have an i7 13th generation, 32GB of RAM, and an RTX 4050.
My solution to practically all the problems I had, like the one you mentioned, or the computer freezing for 1-2 seconds, and similar issues, has been to use Windows 10. Even so, I've disabled the High Precision Event Timer in Device Manager under System Devices.

With this, I've managed to practically eliminate those problems. Occasionally, every few months, I might experience a freeze of 1-2 seconds, but I think that's due to something other than VirtualDJ. If the problems persist, the solutions become more complicated. I recommend the LatencyMon program, which will give you a lot of information about your computer's real-time audio processing and will help you measure and quantify how much performance improves or worsens, depending on the changes you try. I hope you solve these problems soon and let us know how it goes.
