Topic: Filtering by decades is not working correctly
Hi!

I don't exactly know if this is due to an error of mine, but setting up an instant-filter listing by decades brings up weird divisions of this filter...

Take a look here:


The fifth filter "Jahr" (German for "Year") says "list Year range 10".
As far as I know this should be correct, feel free to tell me if its not.
But the divisions seem to be a little bit off, which also look like some error in the code.

If you take a closer look:
The 19xx's are separated correctly until 2009.
Everything between 2010 - 2019 is divided by 5 years instead of 10.
And everything over 2020 is divided by 1 year.

Maybe you have a look at that, if its not my error.

This was pointed out before in a previous post. They might have fixed this in b8630 (Early Access).
 
This was partially intentional btw, since for the most recent decade 10 years is a bit coarse, but the actual cut-off dates hadn't been updated for a while
So in 8630 it's 5 years from 2020 to 2024, and again 1 year for the next years
 
@Adion I suspected as much that's why I didn't report it as a bug. It is a bit counter intuitive if it's the last full decade before the current and it is split though.

To the honest, I can understand the intention and I love how you guys think about so much details in your software! I guess this is why I love it so much!
But I still would prefer to keep it as whole decades...

1. One exception here, the other one there, maybe this rule for this and another one for that... It messes up after a while.

2. I want a decade filter because I have a purpose for it. Maybe I want to play in decades (during motto partys for example), so I don't want to jump around between years. Just show me the decades as I wanted it to show it. Otherwise I would have set the filter accordingly to my needs.
But the way it is now is basically somehow standig in the way.


I mad another post for the quick-filters.
Maybe you could consider this, so people can decide which filter they want where to appear. And so they can set up as much filters as they need, maybe also those for each year, and so the decades filter can just be a normal decades filter.
