I've been a user of iTunes from the beginning back when it was called SoundJam MP. Now that iTunes has been moved over to Apple Music on my PC things are a mess. I have all of my music on an external hard drive. And that drive is also backed up to another HD.
When I navigate to that location inside of VDJ, it's really slow to populate the files - so I can search. I figure VD used to reference the XML file data from iTunes for fast loading of data in VDJ. Now that file is gone, things are slow. I noticed the Apple Music app does not keep the folders organized like iTunes used to. So I've deleted the Apple Music app.
I'm fine only using VDJ to manage my music. But is there anything I can do to speed things up inside of VDJ?
I'm basically starting from scratch - with an old iTunes folder structure. What's the best way to manage music in VDJ, quickly?
Thank you!

IMO VirtualDJ's library organization facilities are vastly superior to anything Apple ever offered in iTunes/Apple Music.
You'll want to check these:
You'll want to check these:
- Smart Folders
Particularly, List Folders (equivalent of Playlists) and Smart Folders (the equivalent of Apple's Smart playlists, but more powerful with filter folder syntax and vdjscript being usable in them) - Quick filters and color rules
Read about them here: https://virtualdj.com/manuals/virtualdj/interface/database/search.html
They allow for quickly narrowing down tracks within the browser list, either by a further filter (quick filter) or by color (color rules) - vdjscript
Possibilities with using this is prob endless, including auto generators of filter folders and list folders to automation of deck controls, and much more.
