Topic: Master FX does not affect Master Output but only the deck selected as Master
I am trying to use an Effect on the Master Output in VDJ but the effect only works on the deck that is playing out "On Air". As soon as the crossfader moves to the opposite deck and the "Master Select" toggle Switches to the other deck, the effect moves to that deck as well. What i want is for the effect to affect the entire master output irrespective of which deck is selected as master. As of now the master effect seems to be following which deck is selected as master and unfortunately there is no way to turn this off in virtual dj. If Anyone knows a way i can work around this, i will be very grateful. I am using CDJ 3000's and a DJM-S11 Combo. Thanks

S11 is a hardware mixer there is no master channel to apply SW fx to.

It's because of the mixer you're using.

Your mixer works as an external mixer. This means that the software can only provide sound to it on a "per deck" basis. Your mixer does not offer a way for the software to send a "master" audio stream.
So, when using an effect on "master", since master doesn't exist with this mixer, VirtualDJ processes the audio of the deck that's masterdeck instead, and treats that as the "master"

If you were using a mixer/controller that could use a "master" audio output (like DDJ-FLX10) then the behavior would be different, and "as expected"

PS: Battle mixers usually are NOT capable to apply effects on "MASTER"
DJM-S11 even when used with hardware effects instead of software, can only apply effects on "left" or "right" channel. Not their sum (master)

Ah , makes a lot of sense now. I knew i had a hardware mixer and as such might face a few issues but could not explain the "per deck" action , thanks for explaining this in detail. I guess i may need to go shopping for an Flx 10 as my backup then.
