Topic: Is it possible to have shaders in multiple folders?
It seems that shaders can only be in a single folder. I have tried editing shaderlist.xml and that doesn't change behaviour.

Apart from duplicating a shader, is there any way to have one in multiple folders? It would be a useful feature.

Yes, you can group them in different folders. Halloween, xmas, standard etc. Are some examples of how I jave mine organized.

Thanks for your response. Yes, I know that, my original question could have been worded better :P

What I want is to have a single shader in multiple folders e.g. favourites and also xmas and also tunnels. But when I try to do that the only option I have is to move a shader from one folder to another.

Though I am sure that in the past there was a "copy to" option.

Your best bet would be to create aa folder for the shaders you want on all the folders, once you create it for example Folder Test, right click and click export. Export it to whichever folder on your computer, it doesnt matter. Once exported as a zip file (vdj will export it as zip), open the zip and copy the file into each of the sjader folders you use. Thanks for that solution, but it doesn't really solve the problem

Let's say my shader folder structure is

All - shader1
- shader 2
- shader 3
- shader 4
- shader 5
- shader 6
- shader 7
- shader 8
- shader 9
- shader 10
Favourites - shader 3
- shader 8
- shader 10
Tunnels - shader 1
- shader 5
Flames - shader 6
- shader 9

Now, I want to make a new folder called xmas and it should look like this

xmas - shader 1
- shader 5
- shader 8
- shader 6

OR I want shader 8 to be in Favourites and flames - I am giving a single shader as an example, but it might be many shaders over different folders.

Given I have a large number of shaders, exporting folders, expanding them and then deleting the ones I don't want would be an awful job, especially given the shader naming convention of random characters.

It seems like what I expect should be possible can't be done. Which is that the folder="favourites" element in shaderlist.xml can have multiple values e.g. folder="favourites, xmas, flames"

Of course that might not be the actual solution. Perhaps it would be better if the shader folder
VirtualDJ\Plugins64\Visualisations
was better organised and folders in the VDJ shader interface were actual subfolders, so there would be
VirtualDJ\Plugins64\Visualisations\favourites
,
VirtualDJ\Plugins64\Visualisations\xmas
etc.

I am not sure how this post got here, but it seems a post can't be deleted
