Topic: can .vdjsample (sample) files be opened in 3rd party softeare e.g. VLC or Audacity?
The message title says it all..

gee it would be good if editing a post included editing the title :P
 

Apparently, .vdjsample files would be .ogg files (this comes from a google search – but not tested by me).
Just rename the file extension, and try!

Thanks for the suggestion, I discovered that.

But saving back to a .ogg file and the renaming it to .vdjsample doesn't seem to work.

 

It's not just an OGG file with a different extension. The OGG file is in a wrapper that adds extra info.

If the editing software opened the file after changing the extension then that's really a flaw of the software.

The fact that VDJ uses these file types is a little frustrating because they're non standard and cause problems like this.

A recent thread highlighted that dragging samples to pads only works (to load to the pad) if the sample is a vdjsample. If it's a standard format (i.e. WAV) then it doesn't work. :-/

That sounds odd; i can drag and load wav mp3 flac files to sample pads without problem.
