I am having a problem with the latest Nvidia Driver 572.16 (Studio & Game Ready), VDJ (Build v2025 b8502) & AVI files. The AVI files either won't play the video, hang VDJ for a little bit or just display green lines. This has happened on 3 different computers. 2 with GTX 1650 and 1 with RTX 2060. Stems on and off. I rolled back the video driver to 566.36 and everything works fine. The latest versions of Nvidia & VDJ are not getting along. VLC Media player does work fine playing these AVI files with the latest Nvidia Driver. Something I thought you should be aware of. It only happens on AVI files. MP4 files are fine.

It's an nvidia issue you need to install the previous driver.

Hello. I had exactly the same problem and I can confirm that switching from the last version 572.16 to the previous 566.36 solves this problem.

Nvidia have released an update 572.42, and yet the issue persists.
AVI files play through windows without any issues, so I'm curious:
A) Is this a VDJ issue?
B) Does means we will never be able to update our video driver to the latest version anymore and still use VDJ?

It's an issue with nVidia drivers.
The fact that it has not been completely fixed by nVidia on their immediate update after the one that introduced it, doesn't mean they are not at fault, nor that they are not going to fix it.
In any case this is a known and wide spread issue that will get fixed soon. Just revert back and be a little patient until all the details are getting sorted out.

Until fixed, you can set the safeVideoDecode option in VirtualDJ to yes

Same green lines same locking and freezing problem I thought I was the only one LOL

Hi, I have just installed release 572.60 from the NVidia App and it seems they have fixed the problem. (Driver released Feb. 27)

Unfortunately not.
You re probably running the Early Access Build 8572 of VirtualDJ which forces safeVideoDecode to Yes, which is actually bypassing some video decoding issues on nVidia.
This is a temporary fix and will be set back to No by default when nVidia actually fixes their bug

Just following up...the latest Nvidia driver 572.83 (03-18-25) still only works with AVI flies if SaveVideoDecode is on. Nvidia hasn't fixed their bug yet.

The latest nVidia driver is 576.40, released May 12th, 2025.
I'd had issues with the nVidia driver a couple months ago as well, but it was an issue where VDJ was crashing with the February nVidia driver release. It's all since been resolved. I can't speak for the AVI issue, but I'd certainly recommend installing the latest driver.
