Topic: dualdeckmode not working (Phase HID/DVS + DJM-S11)
Just exploring the DJM-S11 featureset again - I noticed that dualdeckmode + dualdeckmode_decks doesn't seem work with Phase usage.

I couldn't find an obvious way to make this work either - I could see that phase_movement is the key verb to setup things, but I couldn't get a configuration with dualdeckmode_decks and/or deck <x>|left|right and phase_movement that would make it work.

Is there something I'm missing here to make this work, or does a phase remote only have control over one deck at a time?
(Unfortunately drawing reference here - this works as expected with Serato).

Is there a description of what dualdeckmode + dualdeckmode_decks currently works with?

If you adjust the phase mapping to use dualdeckmode_decks it should indeed work.
Just make sure that vinylMode is on for all decks.

@Adion I have confirmed that your suggestion works under the PHASE key (thank you for providing that, and I do admit that should have been obvious)

dualdeckmode_decks & phase_movement

Some further questions:

  • Should that be the default mapping for Phase, or is there any performance/other reason for that not being the case?
  • Does this also have to be done for other HID/MIDI jog controllers as well (e.g. the CDJ 3000 has touchwheel_touch, so you'll have to append dualdeckmode_decks & in front of that mapping)? If adding that to JOG mappings is undersireable/a large undertaking, could a Wiki page be added to guide users on how to get the desired result in mapping?

I know that this is probably a use case that most people wouldn't care for, but at least for the users that do, some guidance would be helpful.

The reason it was implemented using an extra script is because it seems like a very niche feature, that I'm even doubtful about if it will continue to be available on newer controllers.
So yes, if you want to use it in combination with controllers that don't offer this feature natively, you'll have to add dualdeckmode_decks & in the mappings of these controllers yourself.
There's no plan from our side to update all mappers for this. Either it remains a small feature and it's ok if people can add it themselves, or it does become a big standard feature, and we would implement it completely natively without the need for additional script.

But the only actual useful case I can think of is when using stems, but for this using stems split makes more sense, and is already available natively.
(and if you're a producer, or use it with very specific tracks all the time, using the stems creator to create a stems file from your own tracks and using stem split might be easier as well)

A wiki for dualdeckmode_decks might be useful, but there's not that much more to say about it, and so far you're the first who seems to be using it :)

That does make sense (thank you for the clarifcations). A Wiki is also probably overkill for this given most users haven't shown interest and I guess this post and existing mappings can serve as a guide.

I'm glad I came across this, becauseI honestly thought dualdeckmode_decks had something to do with automix 💀
