Topic: Tags creation and management
My biggest wish would be to now only be able to work with tags that can be checked, as can be found on the Ableton Live software for example. This would consist of creating a “tag editor” column in which all the Tags created would be listed. We would only have to check the tags that we wish to associate with music. we could easily find a "recovery" song from the "80's" for the "start of the evening" with a "Latin" atmosphere. You just have to check the tags "reprise", "80's", "early evening"...
Do you foresee such progress on this subject of tags?

No, I want something much simpler and more graphic. First, a “tags editor” column. In this column, we could create as many tags and tag folders as we want (like we create playlists and playlist folders). In this same column we could check the tags we want for a given piece. then, there will be another "tag filter" window where all the Tags and Tag folders would be displayed and checkable. And VDJ filtered the display of the songs by displaying all the songs corresponding to the tags checked in the "tags filter" column.

IMO there's a plus and a minus side to this system. Yes it's great to have everything displayed, and just click - but it also clutters the screen.

For example if a track collection has 100 different genres, then you would have 100 different things displayed in front of you to click on, and would have to spend time looking for that once genre amongst all the others before you could select it.

Or you could just type in the genre and get the result...

Just to add to what @Adion amd @groovindj has already said - it does seem like most of what you have requested is already doable using hash tag additions from the info tab of the sideview + creation of a quick filter button that lists all tags + searching (See the Hashtags & Quick Filters quick tips, although I think the latter (tag filter) can only do one tag at a time currently, but you can search for hash tags from the search bar by adding Field1 and Field2 to the search consideration options) but it's just not as "graphical".

Making the workflow easier/more graphical is a good suggestion, but did you check to see if the current workflow can meet your needs or is there something specific you feel can't be done via the VDJ workflow that can be done in the suggested case (besides the limitations mentioned)? The deficiencies probably mean more than just graphical references. I do think multi-tag filtering via quick filtering or some other mechanism is one.

I went into the idea like this, only problem is the buttons hold a pretty involved script to light when the song pointed at holds the string.
[not really all that involved but for most people, for 60 buttons it is]

Buttons on the right are;
LIVE - goes back to deck view
MARK - use the thing to mark tracks
FILTER - use the thing to create a filter

Can't remember how instructive this video is.

@locodog you really take time to produce some wonderful things with VirtualDJ. One question....does it handle multi-song selection tagging?

Thanks
The video shows multisong tagging with a scroll type of fashion.
So for non-whole folder tagging you'd move tracks to a sidelist.

It's made for default pro, but it could be added as a popup <window> element.
I made it to my needs [tags genre, user1, user2, comment]

I'm really looking forward to having this skin...

Hi all,

I am really happy to read all your comments. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Here is a video that perfectly illustrates what would be in my eyes the perfect TAG system.
It comes from a composition software, but it adapts perfectly to our DJ's problem.
In the video, consider the left column as the playlist column and the one to its right, where the songs of the playlist are displayed. Above this second column, the possibility of displaying the Tag filters, and then finally, the possibility of displaying a new column for editing and creating tags. I hope that the video allows you to better understand my desires.

@locodog I just saw your Point and click tagging video - amazing! I'm just starting off on the journey to build a "memory palace" in my library, and I really need a tool like this. I could help beta test it if you want :D

It's a paused work in progress, it's not a beta test, if you're really wanting it send me a pm, but it'll be a few beers, a few hours testing and specifying on your part, twice as long for me to code it.

time savers like this I charge a bit more.
