Yea so OP what we're saying is, VirtualDJ, through search_folders, will present you with a search field in a popup window that shows you the same information (it shows like Spotlight and disappears on hitting enter).
It being a permanent part of the skin is a asthetic/cosmetic aspect - the functionality is available/roughly the same (once again, I use both software so it's not like I'm guessing).

Part of being a part of the forum and giving you suggestions, is for you to try it and to say if it doesn't match your expectations.
You haven't done that at all - instead, you showed us a screenshot that circles both applications on things we already know.
I can do the proof, but you'll have to wait until I get home to show you. Other persons can show you the output on the VirtualDJ side if they have the availability.
However, all you have to do, is try what we suggested, and if it doesn't work, then say what is different so that devs can continue with it.
Remember, it is you who are saying the functionality is unequal (you made the post). The onus really is on you to follow through and prove that it doesn't exist.

So if I hit the custom button for "search_folder" and search for 70s I get a list of any playlist, history file or filter folder that "70s" appears in. Is that not what you are after?

The button is on custom skin
But you can add on your own.

I would add though, right now this can double list things - for example, if I have a filter folder that is stored in my lists, it is also listed under Ideas/Filters, so it gets listed twice.
It would be nice for the verb to take a parameter that allows it to narrow what is listed (e.g. "mylists+history") (excuse my ignorance if it actually does - I didn't really try to experiment to see if it does, and I don't remember @locodog's Script School post talking about whether or not that is possible).

I've known about "My Library" for years.
But it has nothing to do with the search bar!
Thank you for introducing this excellent addon to everyone who doesn't know about it yet.

Wanted to mention that with build 8945 the "GO TO LAST FOLDER" button has been permanently set to "SEARCH FOLDERS" (the magnifier icon), with no way to access the "GO TO LAST FOLDER" function.
the "GO TO LAST FOLDER" button was there in build 8909.
as a workaround, have been using a Launchpad scripted button, but would love to have the "GO TO LAST FOLDER" button back, at some point on the skin.
Tested on 2 entirely different setups.
And tested with the default Pro skin.

The folder search feature is excellent.
It would be even better if the color I specified in the folder properties were preserved.

If you have browserPreviousFoldersButton to yes (which you should have if you saw it in vdj2025), then the GO TO LAST FOLDER button will be on the right of the search bar:

Note: right-clicking on the search icon also does goto last folder

Thank you Stephane
So awesome, would have missed the "GO TO LAST FOLDER" button.
VDJ is da Best !!
PS I love using Right clicks to add features to the precious screen space that's available.
I have added many R-click additions to customize the VDJ Pro skin, as needed. And always helpful to add tool tips so I remember all the added functions.
For example the Swap button of the lower deck (4 deck Pro layout) currently has a tool tip of:
(to remind me, if needed of the additional functions of the skin button)
