I am truly struggling with finding the best controller for Virtual DJ. I have spent HOURS trying to figure it out. Any help is much appreciated.

An idea of budget would be a great help.

I'm not sure what you could be struggling for hours trying to find out. There is no "best" controller. There is the controller that you think best meets your needs for what you are trying to achieve on your budget (and that's something you have to decide)
The starting point is the hardware support page.
From that point, you need to decide what you want from your controller and looking at the offerings (they are categorized nicely on that page).

- Do you just need two decks? do you need more than Two?
Two many options to mention, just take a look and see. Each choice presents a different set of options/budget range. - Do you need portability (minimum cables, and maybe battery powered)
Check out the Denon Prime GO series - Do you want a club layout?
Look at the club mixers section (you'll need a HID/MIDI deck controller, so you might look at the CDJ and Denom Prime Series lineup - Are you a turntablist? Then look at the battle mixers, HID deck controllers and DVS timecode.

2 channels VS 4?
Scratching?
Dedicated mic inputs?
Built in screens?
Hardware FX?
