TBH I don't know what the fuss is about. It seems to be one of those requests that's only come about since other software introduced it. Before it was added to djay Pro, how many times did anyone ask for it?

This ×1000

Where were these requests/ppl when DJay introduced it?

Don't get me wrong desire is fully understandable and welcome, but people have to be reasonable given how these things work (contracts and liability for mistakes/not following the contracts) - do we really think Atomix would actively not want to inform people of a feature that has many requesters/is becoming available elsewhere?

There are people (not pointing fingers at anyone here, just what I've seen in various forums/social media pages) trying to play off the lack of its presence in VirtualDJ and its presence in some other popular software as somehow being some defining standard of being acceptable DJ software - it isn't and will never be a measuring stick (those people insisting this are confusing to me, because it's proveable that other offerings, do have pretty much an equivalent catalogue, and having that much dependence on streaming services to make such a claim is somewhat telling about them as a DJ itself).

We weren't asking, because it wasn't supported by any other DJ apps (save Djay). Now that it is, we know it's possible, and would really like it in Virtual DJ! It feels weird that every single other (serious) DJ app got support, but Virtual DJ didn't. I would really love for that to change. The attraction is that Apple Music is my daily driver, it's what I use for my personal music, and I would love to bridge the gap between that and my DJ library.

I guess most people are surprised that VDJ was normally in the lead with support for the likes of Tidal and stems for example.

When Engine DJ / Serato / Rekordbox and DJ Pro announce apple support, people are going to ask what's missing from that list and it's Mixxx, which is free, so you can understand them not including streaming services, but VDJ is an odd one to be not on that list.

Apple music would be the one service that all the DJ software supports and is a lot cheaper than tidal.

Cheaper but it doesn't offer stem separation or offline storage.

People tend to forget that even paying for Tidal is still an absolute bargain compared to actually buying your music, whether that's downloads, CDs or vinyl.

Back when I was buying vinyl and/or CDs, I'd be spending 10x the weekly cost for Tidal - and that's without adjustment for inflation.

I'm happy not to have those features for a reduced price.

There are other providers available which are just as cheap. VirtualDJ already has a better selection of streaming services than any of the competition.

All those people have to do is think a little, and they could conclude, by looking at examples (as @groovindj already said, VirtualDJ has the most stteaming platform integrations), that it is far more likely streaming provider problem (e.g. Apple chose who they wanted at the table or other contractual exclusion), rather than Atomix's inability to integrate the service (that's most likely the same story for Mixxx too).

The discussion of relative pricing vs older pricing of medium - to each his own I suppose.

Over time, we've gone from one side (potentially paying alot for the song on a medium but it being in control of it's availability come gig time) to another (paying less for the song in the moment, but continually, as long as you want access to it, and not being in control of its availability, whether it be internet, the platform itself deciding to provide it, or the platform even being available in future (think spotify)).

For me personally, as long as I can reasonably provide for me to be in full control of the availability (through reasonably priced DJ Pools or purchase), I'll always prefer that, and appreciate streaming for the gaps/odd requests.
It all comes down to what you are confortable with, including the risk.
