ok....have discovered in actual practice that if I shut down all other processes on the laptop and only attempt to prepare one track at a time re stems it can be done......playing a completed set out was fine ......so happy enough now re quality stems when playing out and I set the Armory Crate on my ASUS laptop to Turbo to maximise cooling etc

Good it's been figured out. Nice one.

I think VDJ should figure this out... examples enough to show that stems 2.0 can be done with the RTX3050.
Just look at the new version 3.0.4 of Serato with the new improved stems quality, it runs without any problems and fast on my laptop with AMD Ryzen 7 and RTX3050ti

As far as I'm aware, Serato doesn't use the NVIDIA GPU to decode stems in the same way as VDJ, so you're not comparing like with like. If you set VDJ to use CPU then it would be a fair comparison.

I don't know how the other software does it and how the other does it? recorbox ???
I don't feel like using the other 2 software I would like my rtx 3050 4gb to work all the time that I have virtual scon I have rarely run into failures

Activate the option "don't use GPU"

That results in computing time of 3-4 minutes for a 5 minute track...
Why does computing take only 25 seconds for the same track if I first stretch the dedicated vram by openening and closing a program which uses high dedicated vram or uninstall nvidia drivers (but is no option)?
I think it's to easy for vdj just saying to upgrade your videocard to > 6gb while it's only a recommendation, while imo there clearly is a software solution.

Which "AMD Ryzen 7" do you have?
How much RAM do you have?

i have the same issue with the 3050. bought the laptop specifically as origonally you just needed a 4 gig video card. didnt see the 6 gig requirment for rtx cards. dont know why its so hard when gtx cards only need 4 gig. there must be a way around this if older generation cards need less vram

After 4 years I finally hit the top where VDJ Pro "crashed" during my last two online live sets, and yes I was using STEMS activated, ...always have been. I have a Ryzen 5 5660, 32G RAM with an NVIDIA RTX 1660 Super, ...but I am building out a new system with a Ryzen 7 7800X3D and an RTX 4070 (yet to do). I know my problems should disappear with the new system just based on the specs of the RTX card. I'm curious about the RTX 3050, because it seems to be the one most asked about (I'm sure because of its 'pricepoint'), but I think you hit it on the head with the VRAM. 6 minimum but 8 preferred.
...but I've also noticed that active use of some of the effects/plugins under our "Extensions" seem to affect things as well, such as the case with "BFX Echo" or the "Graphic EQ". I love using BFX Echo with tracks, but is BFX Echo working in tandem with Stems 2.0 or is it solely working with EQ. ...and on that note does a 'heavier control' EQ (like the graphic EQ) affect things and demand more resources as well?
Another quick question is concerning the newer X3D versions of Ryzen CPU's which are significantly better due to the X3D having significantly much greater onboard CPU cache & cache sharing capabilities. People are saying its the golden solution for gamers and (for people like myself) VR performance in VRchat. I'm wondering how increased & shared onboard CPU cache affects or plays out in this whole VDJ STEMS 2.0 scenario...

Stems 2.0 was improved by improving the code (i assume)
If that's the case maybe a future release will be less resource intensive? i await this improvement.
I upgraded to a Lenovo Loq because my laptop couldn't handle stems 2
present config is
7840HS Ryzen7 - 3.8mhz
16 gigs ram
RTX 4050 with 6 gigs vram
Radeon 780m
no problems, but always wish stems could be faster due to my fast mixing style.....a 3 min song takes about 10 secs.....speed is something you always want more of....lol.
stems processing report as 20 to 20.4 X
i run my setup in dynamic power mode as this is a gaming laptop and i dont want to have the fans going full blast all the time.....this seems to work fine.
